Overview

This course is designed for workers, community members, and family members who may be called upon to respond in an emergency. No prior medical knowledge is required, only the willingness to learn and to act.

Through practical, hands-on training, you’ll gain the essential skills to maintain circulation in adults, children, and infants experiencing cardiac arrest, significantly improving their chance of survival.

What you will learn

 How to respond safely and confidently in emergency situations using the DRSABCD action plan.

How to detect and treat unconscious individuals.

Apply correct techniques for performing effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on infants and adults.

Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in real-life emergency scenarios.

 Knowing and understanding the laws and rules that apply when providing CPR.

Repositioning the person to maintain an open airway.

All training is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, ensuring the best possible outcomes until professional help arrives.

Who this course is for

This course is designed for all workers, community members and family members who may be required to respond in an emergency. No prior medical knowledge is needed, just the willingness to learn and act.

Personal Requirements

To demonstrate competence, participants will be required to perform CPR on an adult manikin positioned on the floor for a continuous period (usually around two minutes). As part of the course, participants should also have the physical ability to carry out basic first aid procedures.

Certification

When you successfully complete the HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course, you’ll receive your certificate by email as a soft copy.

Your certificate is valid for 12 months from the date on your certificate.

 The Code of Practice recommends that CPR refresher training should be undertaken anually to maintain currency.

Duration

Please allow up to 2 hours for the face-to-face component (usually only takes about 1.5 hours).

You'll need to complete the online component before the course starts, and you can do that at your own pace.
