Overview

This course includes HLTAID009 (CPR) to form the complete First Aid package. It is blended (online and face to face) designed for workers, community members, and family members who may be called upon to respond in a first aid emergency.

No prior medical knowledge is required, only the willingness to learn and act.

Through practical, hands-on training, you’ll gain the essential skills to provide first aid to adults, children, and infants in a variety of situations.

What you will learn

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

✤ Conduct a full primary assessment of the casualty

✤ Conduct a secondary survey of a casualty,

✤ Perform CPR, safely operate an AED, and place the casualty into the recovery position,

✤ Apply effective techniques for the management of Anaphylaxis,

✤ Apply effective techniques for the management of Asthma,

✤ Apply effective techniques for handling fractures, dislocations, and envenomation,

✤ Provide psychological aftercare for rescuers and victims,

✤ Manage a choking casualty,

✤ Manage Non-Life-Threatening Bleeding and Shock.

✤ Learn to manage common injuries and illnesses,

✤ Understand the legal considerations of providing first aid,

✤ Apply first aid principles in real-world scenarios.

Who is this course for

This course is designed for all workers, community members and family members who may be required to respond in a first aid emergency. No prior medical knowledge is needed—just the willingness to learn and act.

Personal Requirements

✤ To demonstrate competence, participants will be required to perform CPR on an adult manikin positioned on the floor for a continuous period (usually around two minutes). As part of the course, participants should also have the physical ability to carry out basic first aid procedures.

✤ If you are unable to meet the entry requirements, please contact us to discuss as we maybe able to provide alternatives so you are still able to gain the life saving information.

✤ Students are required to complete online pre-course work before attending the face-to-face session.

Certification

When you successfully complete the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course, you’ll receive your certificate by email.

✤ Your first aid certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue.

✤ To maintain currency, the Code of Practice recommends that your first aid qualification should be renewed every 3 years from the date of issue. 

✤ The HLTAID009 component is valid for 12 months. The Code of Practice recommends that CPR refresher training should be undertaken anually to maintain currency.

Duration

✤ Face-to-face practical assessment is approximately 2.5 hours + Online pre-course learning.
